Scouts BSA (Formerly Boy Scouts of America)

Scouts BSA is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness.

For over a century, Scouts BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. Scouts BSA believes — and, through over a century of experience, knows — that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.

Boy Scout Trail

Boy Scout Trail is a great resource for information on Scouting at all ages. Information is sorted by ranks as well as activities.

Belt Loop & Pin Requirements

Belt loops and pins are awarded to Scouts completing the three belt loop requirements in an academic subject or sport. Belt loops are worn on the Cub Scout belt. Pins are awarded to scouts that continue participating in an academics or sports area and meet the specific requirements for each pin. Pins typically require completion of the corresponding belt loop requirements plus 5 or 6 more challenging requirements. Information for belt loop requirements is not in the Cub Scout books.

Youth Protection Online Training

  • Youth Protection training is required for all BSA registered volunteers, regardless of their position.

  • New leaders are required to take Youth Protection training before submitting an application for registration. The certificate of completion for this training must be submitted at the time the application is made and before volunteer service with youth begins.

  • Youth Protection training must be taken every two years. If a volunteer’s Youth Protection training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be re-registered.
